15_12_Licensed_Suzanne Cruise_SocialMedia-2 It may be the dead of winter, but our Fabric of the Week is reminiscent of summer camping trips, long days, hot nights, and campfires. We were so impressed with this adorable design that we had to know more about the artist, Donna Knold.

Question: How long have you been designing fabric?

Answer: I’ve been studying fabrics all my life, it’s something that has always fascinated me. My first chance to design for fabric was 2 years ago.

Question: What is your favorite part of being a designer?
Answer: It’s always different. I’ts a new challenge everyday. I think that’s my favorite part of being a designer.

Question: What is the most challenging part of your job?
Answer: The most challenging part of my job is not knowing what my next challenge will be. From re-formatting artwork to working on Christmas images in July. I just jump in everyday and try to figure out what I need to do, and then go for it.

I hope that this fabric will inspire someone else’s creativity. If I can create something that brings a smile to someone’s day, I can’t think of a more rewarding goal in life.

Question: How did you come up with this specific design? What was the inspiration?

Answer: I like to take my inspiration from everything: books, patterns, antique stores, everywhere I can. This design was inspired by a vintage street map I found, and some camping gear that brought back childhood memories of traveling with my family.

Question: What would be your ideal use for this sku?
Answer: There are so many things I’d use this fabric for: a handy travel tote, fun curtains, a cute pillow, or anywhere you want a touch of retro.

Question: What do you hope consumers take away from this fabric design?
Answer: I hope they find the fabric fun, bright, and cheerful.
