CUTTING:
From People, CUT:
- Two 7½ Sub cut strips into nine 7½ squares = A
- Four 4″ strips = B
From Heart Print, CUT:
- Eight 4strips = C
From Dancers, CUT:
- Two 4 Sub cut strips into twenty 4 squares = D
From Mustard Ditsy, CUT:
- Four 4 Sub cut strips into thirty-six 4 squares = E
- Eight 4 Sub cut strips into seventy-two 4 squares. Sub cut squares into one hundred forty-four triangles = F
From Beer Mugs, Cut:
- Two 4 strips. Sub cut strips into sixteen 4 squares = G
From Blue solid, Cut:
- Eight 3 strips. Sub cut strips into seventy-two 3 squares. Sub cut these into one hundred forty-four triangles = H
From Ditsie Print, Cut:
- Six 2 ½strips = Border
- Seven 2 ½strips = Binding
UNIT ASSEMBLY:
Diamond in Square:
- Join unit H to the left and right of unit D (see diagrams below). Trim dog ears and press seams open = Step 1.
- Repeat step 1 for the other sides. Trim dog ears and press seams open = Step 2
- Join unit F to the left and right of unit H. Trim dog ears and press seams open = Step 3.
- Trim block to 7square = Diamond in Square unit 1. Repeat steps 1 – 4 to create 20 blocks.
- Repeat steps 1 – 4 using unit G in place of unit D to create 16 blocks = Diamond in Square unit 2.
Four Patch unit:
- Join unit B and unit C (see diagrams below). Press seams to the darker side and repeat to create 4 sets = Set 1.
- Cut set 1 into thirty-six 7 ½ x 4 strips = Row 1.
- Join unit C and unit E. Press seams to the darker side and repeat to create 4 sets = Set 2.
- Cut set 2 into thirty-six 7 ½ x 4 strips = Row 2
- Join Row 1 and Row 2 together. Press seams to the darker side and repeat to create 36 units = Four Patch unit.
BLOCK ASSEMBLY:
- Lay out blocks as shown; 3 blocks to a row, see Block Diagrams below.
- Join blocks together in rows; rows together to complete block.
QUILT ASSEMBLY:
- Lay out blocks as shown; 3 rows of 3 blocks, see Quilt Top Diagram.
- Join blocks together in rows; rows together to complete the quilt top.
FINISHING:
- Layer backing, batting and quilt top; baste and quilt as desired.
- Trim and square you quilt.
- Join the 2 ½ “strips together for one continuous piece for binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press. Stitch raw edge of binding to the front edge of the quilt with ¼” seam. Turn the folded edge under and press. Hand stitch in place or use a machine and stitch in the ditch.
